Jill was born in 1958 and raised in suburban Ohio. In what became a nearly continuous move to the southwest, she moved to Flagstaff and graduated from Northern Arizona University with her BFA in 1981.  She began her graduate work at Ohio State but soon returned for her MA from NAU and quickly moved to teaching and selling her art.  In 1989-2001she taught at the Orme school and Yavapai Community College. After relocating to Nevada, she taught at the Western Nevada College (2006-2019) and at Truckee Meadows College (2006-19) until returning to Cottonwood, Yavapai College (and now Reitz Ranch,) where she happily resides with her dog Pearl and Hopi, her cat.
